Stretch marks are a normal part of puberty for most girls and boys. When a person grows or gains weight really quickly, you get fine lines may appear on the skin called stretch marks. Stretch marks occur when skin is stretched or giving of themselves due to rapid growth. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it is excessively stretched, the normal production of collagen is altered. Consequently, it can form scars called stretch marks.
