I

Twitter is a free microblogging service that functions as a social network that allows us to send micro-text based entries, with a maximum length of 140 characters where it responds to the question: What are you doing?

I

What does Follow, retweet, DM, Tweetups and Hashtags?

I

Although they are too basic, I must not stop to comment, as some of you just do not have a Twitter account, and some of these terms may sound a little strange to them.

I

Follow or followers is referred to the people we follow. I continue or to Follow And now I have 140 followers It is creating a whole terminology around this word, and we can see phrases like "You're not followeando me" or "Following a is when we see a message or Tweet and copy and return send, usually mentioning the author.

I

DM: When you send a direct message to a user that only he can read.

I

Tweetups: Born to gather Meetups and Twitter, so we could translate as Twitters meetings.

I

Hashtags: The way we track a specific topic or event through Twitter. Twitter allows you to search in themes. For example, if you want to search for news about WordPress, find all topics that contain #wordpress.

I

- Address shorteners

I

Having only 140 characters to write our messages, a need arises: Shorten the addresses of our links. For that there are services that shorten the addresses in a single click. Some of these services are: Tinyurl,

I

Finders by themes:

I

As we have seen before, we can follow tweets with a specific hashtag, for that we can use different tools.

I

Self tool for searching Twitter. We can search for any word or phrase, or hashtags. We can also subscribe via RSS to a search.

I

Tweefind: Similar to Twitter search engine but it also allows you to add a widget on your blog with the search you want, by way of news.

I

Twazzup: For me, the most comprehensive of these search engines. It is updated live apart and do the same as above, shows the tweets featured on this subject, the most shared links, twitters more talk on the subject, etc.

I

Seeking people you should follow on Twitter:

I

WhoShouldIFollow: Just adding our username on Twitter, will search for our fans, and people who follow, to develop a list of people who should follow. It will give a series of data on these Twitters, as the number of tweets per day makes, location, or type of twitter is. It does tell us that is similar to other twitters that follow.

I

Twannabe: Similar but ask Twitter username and password. I do not like to add my passwords out there so I leave you to try you.

I

Twitterholic: In this, the most important that we get are the top users. Very interesting if you get morbid follow Britney Spears or Lance Armstrong. It also gives the user statistics that we want to check, its evolution over time, etc.

I

: Also we have to insert our data from Twitter. It seems quite reliable in this utility we can know: we should follow relevant users, people who follow us and we are not following, and more options. Every month we will send an email with the update of this data.

I

This is only a small part of what we know about Twitter. Soon I shall explain many more features, both internal and external.
